Informational Technology, B.S.
IT leaders provide the steady backbone of technology systems that allow companies large and small to deliver work on time, safely, and securely. The Information Technology major provides students with comprehensive training in essential IT skills. With a strong emphasis on both technical and soft skills, the program prepares graduates for a variety of roles in IT, with a focus on employability through preparation for CompTIA certification exams.
SPECIFICS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY B.S. DEGREE
Minimum Total Hours: 120
Total Liberal Arts Hours Required: 60
General Education Requirements: Per Core Curriculum Requirements list (see General Education Council). Exceptions:
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.
Transfer Requirements: See institutional transfer policies.
Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application should be submitted at the end of the sophomore year. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for acceptance to the major.
Major Requirements: 53 hours.
- 35 hours in computer science: CSCI 2010, 2020, 2640, 2720, 2810, 3000, 3110, 3710, 4710 & 4950 or 4980
- 3 hours in management: MGMT 3900
- 18 Hours RIZE core: XCSCI 1300, 2410, XIFTC 1100, 2050, 2100 & 4200
- Complete any Minor (18 or more credits) with at least 9 distinct credits (excluding Critical Analysis and Social Engagement)
