Data Science, B.S.
The Data Science major equips students with the skills to harness vast amounts of data to drive decision-making and innovation across various sectors. Starting with foundational courses in data manipulation and visualization, students progress to advanced topics like machine learning and predictive modeling using Python.
SPECIFICS OF THE DATA SCIENCE B.S. DEGREE
Minimum Total Hours: 120

General Education Requirements: Per Core Curriculum Requirements list (see General Education Council).
Minimum Requirements: Overall and major GPA of 2.0; no grade less than C- in the major.

Application to the Major: Standard institutional major application should be submitted at the end of the sophomore year. A minimum overall GPA of 2.0 is required for acceptance to the major. Major acceptance is required for some upper-level courses including CSCI 4500.
Major Requirements: 67 hours.
- 32 hours in computer science CSCI 2010, 2020, 2710, 3000, 3110, 3610, 3710, 4210, 4710, 4950 or 4980
- 14 hours of mathematics: MATH 2281, 2282, 3400, 3411
- 21 hours RIZE core: XDATA 1100, 1200, XDSCI 2100, 2200, 3100, 3600, XIFTC 2050
