Health care in the United States is a tricky thing to navigate for American citizens and international students alike! Here are the basics of what you need to know as an F-1 student at Roberts.
Requirements for Students
- All F-1 International students at Roberts Wesleyan University are required to have health insurance coverage.
- Both athletes and non-athletes must have health insurance coverage.
- You must have coverage for the duration of your time at Roberts.
- This means you may need to renew your plan once a year.
- If your insurance policy expires, a hold will be placed on your student account. You will not be able to register for classes until you provide proof of renewed coverage.
- You must show proof of insurance to the Wellness Center when you first arrive and each time you renew your insurance. You may present a physical insurance ID card or an electronic version.
- The Wellness Center is located in the Upper Voller Athletic Center, down the hall from the Bookstore.
Insurance Options for International Students
New York State of Health (NYSOH) offers free insurance available through the government. The Office of International Engagement can connect you with a NYSOH agent. You also have the option to purchase insurance from any company you choose.
Contact the Wellness Center a for a starting point for finding health insurance. You should research your options carefully to purchase the plan that best suits your needs. International athletes must ensure that their insurance meets NCAA requirements.
