BRYNN KING REPEATS AS EAST REGION WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF YEAR
Roberts Wesleyan University graduate student Brynn King was named the NCAA Division II East Region Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the second straight year on Monday.
King, who is from The Woodlands, Texas, won the women's pole vault competition at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo., on May 24.
The victory capped an undefeated season for King, who also set the overall NCAA outdoor record, which has since been eclipsed, of 4.75 meters (15-feet, 7-inches) while winning the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 29.
King is a four-time NCAA Division II champion (two indoor, two outdoor) and is the only woman in DII history to surpass 15-feet in the pole vault. She is the first and only Roberts student-athlete to win an NCAA Championship and represented the United States in the pole vault at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
King also earned honors from the USTFCCCA after the 2024 indoor season when she was named both the East Region and overall Division II Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
King will receive the Rich Funke Jr./Jerry Flynn Local College Athlete of the Year Award from the Rochester Press-Radio Club on June 10.
