Christ’s example has taught me that true leadership begins with listening, lifting others up, and being willing to walk alongside people through both challenges and victories. In the area of philanthropy, my faith reminds me that God is the ultimate provider. I do not see giving as a transactional act, but as a spiritual response to God’s abundant grace and provision. It's an opportunity to partner with what He’s doing at Roberts, trusting that He will supply every need according to His purpose.
Profile
Tammy Butler was drawn to Roberts Wesleyan University because of its deep and enduring mission: to prepare thoughtful, spiritually mature, and service-minded individuals who will help transform the world. That calling to integrate faith, learning, and service resonates deeply with her own sense of purpose. She considers it an honor to be part of a community so committed to equipping students to live out their faith and make a meaningful impact through their professions and lives.
Her faith has shaped every aspect of her approach to leadership and philanthropy. She sees leadership not as a position of power, but as a calling to serve others with humility, compassion, and purpose. Following the example of Christ, she leads by listening, lifting others up, and walking alongside people through both challenges and victories. Whether she’s leading a team or inviting someone into generosity, she seeks to honor Christ through service and stewardship.
As Vice President for Institutional Advancement, she believes her team plays a critical role in helping students pursue their one-of-a-kind calling. By building relationships and telling the stories of transformation happening at Roberts, her team invites others - alumni, donors, and friends - to invest in the next generation. That investment opens doors through scholarships, internships, mentoring, and personal connections. The goal is not just resource development, but cultivating opportunities that affirm and shape each student’s unique journey.
She was first drawn to advancement through her love of building meaningful relationships. She has always found joy in connecting people, and is deeply inspired by helping others see how their passions and interests can align with something greater. Today, she remains motivated by seeing those connections directly support the mission of Roberts through generosity, mentoring, and prayer.
One verse she returns to often is “Make love your aim.” (1 Corinthians 14:1). It anchors her approach to leadership, generosity, and relationships.
Outside of work, she loves backpacking. For her, it’s the perfect combination of connecting with nature and staying active.
She joins the Roberts team from Southeastern University, where she served as Senior Engagement Officer and as the advancement liaison to its five schools. She has also served in leadership roles at World Team USA, Cairn University, Hawthorne Christian Academy, and other higher education institutions.
Butler earned her undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland and a graduate degree from Norwich University. A few of her most recent accolades include Member of Lakeland Rotary Club, Finisher in the Disney Half Marathon, Certified Fundraising Executive Professional and Fellowship of Christian Athletes Metro Philadelphia Board, among many others.
