Background

Dr. Steven Bovee has served at Roberts Wesleyan University since 1997, where he currently holds the roles of Chief Strategy Officer, Senior Advisor to the President for Strategy, and Professor of Business & Economics. Across his decades of service, he has helped shape the university’s strategic vision while mentoring students in business, leadership, and faith integration.

His approach to teaching is grounded in Proverbs 3:5–6 and reflects his belief that students are in process - imperfect but called to grow. Known for setting high expectations in a supportive and engaging environment, Dr. Bovee challenges students to develop their gifts and calling while applying real-world knowledge to solve complex problems. In his graduate Strategic Management course, students act as consultants, analyzing companies and pitching strategic plans to panels of business executives and faculty in a “shark tank” format.

Dr. Bovee earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Oklahoma State University and holds a B.S. in Accounting and an M.B.A. from Oral Roberts University, where he also taught on the business faculty. At Roberts, he previously served as Business Dean, Director of the M.S. in Strategic Leadership and undergraduate business programs, and Coordinator of Academic Program Development, leading the launch of more than 20 new academic programs. He has presented nationally with the Christian Business Faculty Association, contributing to thought leadership on institutional innovation and leadership essentials in Christian higher ed.

Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Bovee and his wife, Krista, have been married for over 30 years and have five grown children. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, hunting, genealogy, reading, and gathering around the campfire with his family.
