Profile

Samuel (Sammy) DeAngelis teaches percussion as an Adjunct Professor. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Florida State University and his master’s at the Eastman School of Music, where he is now finishing his Doctor of Musical Arts (expected 2026).

He is passionate about new music and has premiered works by composers such as Michael Burritt, Billy Childs, Matt Curlee, and Samuel Adler. Sammy is a founding member of 3D Percussion, a trio focused on collaborative new music, and performs regularly with ensembles such as Eastman’s Musica Nova and Eastman Percussion Ensemble.

He has extensive orchestral experience, having performed with the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, Eastman Philharmonia, and the Florida State University Symphony Orchestra. At Roberts Wesleyan University, Sammy teaches drum set and classical percussion through the Community Music School, while also offering virtual instruction and serving as a graduate coach for the Eastman Chamber Percussion Ensemble.
