Profile
Dr. Koki Tanaka is a concert violinist, educator, and chamber musician known for his vibrant performances and commitment to sharing music in meaningful, accessible ways. Making his solo debut at age 18 in Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, Koki was the first to perform the Conus Violin Concerto on that stage—setting a precedent for bold, expressive artistry. Since then, he has performed internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and concertmaster, from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall to performances with orchestras and ensembles across the U.S. and Japan. Koki is also a dedicated music educator, currently teaching at the American Music Centre and Roberts Community Music School, where he nurtures the next generation of musicians with the same passion that defines his own playing.
Equally accomplished in chamber and orchestral settings, Koki has founded multiple award-winning ensembles, including the Quantum String Quartet and KEE Trio, and has performed with musicians such as Scott Pingel and in masterclasses with Gil Shaham and Leon Fleisher. With a Doctor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from Eastman, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Washington, Koki blends technical excellence with storytelling and soul—whether on stage, in the classroom, or in the community.
