Ava Flores

Senior Coordinator of Student Life; Davison Resident Director

Profile

I’ve always been drawn to the faith-centered culture at Roberts. I grew up attending Northgate Free Methodist Church in Batavia and in the Oakfield area, and there are so many meaningful connections between that church community and Roberts that the university always felt familiar and aligned with my values. What stood out to me most was the way Roberts weaves faith, learning, and community together in a way that feels genuine and lived out, not just talked about.

What keeps me excited is the people. I get to work alongside colleagues who care deeply about students, and I get to walk with students through seasons of growth, challenge, and discovery. Every year looks different: new students, new leadership opportunities, and new ways to build systems and spaces that help people thrive. That sense of purpose and forward movement is what energizes me most.

What I love most about working with students in higher education is seeing how much time, effort, and sacrifice they invest in their education. Students are showing up with big goals, real pressure, and a desire to build something meaningful, and I want to do everything I can to remove barriers that make that journey harder than it needs to be.

I serve in two roles. As the Senior Coordinator for Student Life, students can contact me about just about anything, and I’ll help connect them with the right resources or next steps. As the Resident Director for Davison, students should feel comfortable reaching out about housing concerns, roommate or community issues, leadership development, navigating campus resources, or when they simply need someone to listen and help them think things through.

My leadership is strongly shaped by a servant-leadership mindset, grounded in verses like John 3:30 “He must increase, but I must decrease”  and Galatians 6:9, which reminds me to remain faithful and persistent in doing good. These verses continually call me to lead with humility, consistency, and care for others.

I try to support students in a way that centers their growth rather than my own agenda, meeting them where they are and encouraging them to keep going even when things feel hard. My goal is to lead in a way that reflects patience, empathy, and steady encouragement, especially during seasons of challenge or uncertainty.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about worship, being helpful in everyday ways, and building meaningful connections. I genuinely enjoy showing up for people and creating spaces where others feel supported and seen. I’m also a proud cat parent to Milo, who keeps life entertaining and grounded.
