Dean of Students
Title IX Coordinator

My goal is to help students navigate independent living as they develop their vocational calling. This includes making sure the community is safe and available for all.

Amy Schmalfuss

Profile

Amy Schmalfuss has been part of Roberts Wesleyan University since 2014. She was drawn to Roberts because it offered a chance to integrate her faith into her work. As Dean of Students, Amy helps students transition from family life to independent living while supporting them in reaching their personal, academic, and spiritual goals. She wants campus to be a safe, welcoming place for everyone.

Amy takes a thoughtful, listening-first approach when students face challenges. She pays attention not just to what they say, but how they’re feeling, helping them find clarity and direction during difficult moments. She values Roberts’ commitment to “Education for Character,” seeing students grow in mind, body, and soul. Employers often remark on the distinct quality of Roberts graduates, a reflection of the holistic education Amy helps foster every day.

Faith is central to how Amy works with students. She sees it in the ways they show grace, love, and compassion to one another, and she supports student leaders in weaving faith into campus life. Over her years in higher education, Amy’s leadership has grown with experience and guidance from mentors. Outside of her professional life, she has a personal connection to ministry, having grown up as a pastor’s child.
