Roberts Wesleyan University invites candidates to apply for a full-time (9-month), tenure-track Social Work faculty position beginning July 2026. The Department of Social Work is housed in the School of Education and Social Work on our park-like campus in Rochester, New York, providing the program with the advantages of a suburban setting within a vibrant metropolitan area.

Roberts Wesleyan University is a comprehensive, Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences, and professions serving approximately 1,750 traditional and nontraditional students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In support of the diversity of thought, Roberts offers over 60 undergraduate programs/majors, including 2 associate's programs and 5 bachelor's completion programs, alongside a portfolio of 22 master's and doctoral programs, and 26 online programs, including hybrid options; our first doctoral program launched in 2016.

The mission of the Department of Social Work is to empower students through education, enabling them to positively impact individuals, communities, and society. Using a person-in-environment framework, students will be prepared to pursue social, racial, economic, and environmental justice, with a focus on upholding human rights and dignity. The department serves over 200 students and has 8 faculty members, with 3 serving in the BSW Program and 5 serving in the MSW Program.


Qualifications:

  • Preferred applicants will be a licensed MSW and have a completed Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field.

  • Candidates will have a record of scholarship and teaching in policy, macro social work, and research.

  • Candidates must have at least two years post-MSW Social Work practice experience.

  • Candidates without a Ph.D. may be considered.

Candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to the integration of Christian faith and professional practice and a willingness to support the University’s Christian mission and identity. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate multicultural competence and show commitment to the principles of diversity & equity.


Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of all faculty at Roberts Wesleyan University is teaching. These responsibilities include undergraduate-level courses in both our traditional and degree-completion BSW programs. The teaching load is 24 credits per academic year and will comprise both online and in-person classes.

Additional responsibilities include committee work within the Department of Social Work and the University, community service, advising, and scholarship.

While the primary focus for faculty is teaching, effective faculty performance will also include service, profession-related activity, and scholarship.

The approved salary range for this position is $52,000 - $57,000. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
