Roberts Wesleyan University invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Music Therapy to provide instruction for key undergraduate music therapy courses for the 2025 -2026 academic year. The Music Department is on our park-like campus in Rochester, New York, providing the program with the advantages of a suburban setting within a vibrant metropolitan area. This position is intended to support the ongoing delivery of the Music Therapy program during a time of leadership transition. The individual will work in collaboration with the Dean, Chief Academic Officer, and music faculty to ensure instructional integrity and compliance with the standards of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned undergraduate music therapy courses in accordance with AMTA competencies and NASM standards.
  • Work collaboratively with music and other faculty to maintain course continuity and academic quality.
  • Provide student support, feedback, and guidance related to course content and clinical application
  • Maintain appropriate records of student progress and submit grades in accordance with University policies.
  • Oversee all clinical fieldwork placements (practicum and internship)
  • Provide academic advising for Music Therapy majors
  • Attend occasional meetings or program planning sessions as requested

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music Therapy or equivalent (required)
  • Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) in good standing
  • Minimum of five years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy (as required by AMTA for directors; preferred for this adjunct role)
  • Experience teaching or supervising at the undergraduate or graduate level preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Roberts Wesleyan University, including support for student success and academic excellence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with AMTA and NASM accreditation standards

Salary Range:  $746.00/hour
