Two Minutes

What can you do with two minutes?

As a pastor who preaches for thirty-plus minutes every Sunday, this was my first thought when asked to deliver a two-minute graduation speech. But in preparation, I was reminded not to underestimate the power of two minutes.

Some of the most impactful moments of my life have happened in the course of two minutes.

Making vows on my wedding day.

Holding my daughter for the first time.

Choosing to forgive my dad and blessing him goodbye on his deathbed.

Ministry often happens in brief encounters: a two-minute conversation with someone in crisis, a short prayer with a grieving family, or a quick word of encouragement to a struggling soul.

Within Scripture, we see lives transformed in these fleeting moments: a group of unlikely fishermen invited to come and follow, a Samaritan woman at a well, the discovery of an empty tomb. Two minutes can change everything.

These two-minute encounters aren't interruptions to our ministry - they are our ministry.

They are the moments where theology meets reality, where our education finds its purpose, and where God's grace becomes tangible through our presence and actions.

As we leave these halls with our various degrees, remember that while we've spent years preparing for a lifetime of living out God's calling on each of our lives, it's often in these two-minute encounters that God does His most remarkable work.

"What will you do with your two minutes? How will you use these sacred moments that God gives you to touch lives, share God's love, and transform communities?"

-Adrian Greer

May God bless you, keep you, and give you the eyes to recognize these divine opportunities, courage to step boldly into each moment, and love that flows abundantly through your words and actions. May your ministry be marked not by impressive achievements, but by your faithful tending to these sacred two-minute encounters where heaven touches earth– where lives are changed, hope is restored, and God's kingdom advances.
