Morgan Mitchell with a member of the SDSU Football Team
Alumnus Morgan Mitchell ‘15 (Management Entrepreneurship) is living out his calling to shepherd young adults both on and off the field.
After earning his degree in business management at Roberts, Mitchell followed God’s lead to San Diego in 2016, where he joined Journey Community Church as a college and young adult pastor.
In 2024, he assumed a new role as team chaplain for the San Diego State University football team, where he is now known as Pastor Morgan. He provides support to players and coaches through prayer, Bible studies, and personal mentorship. Whether leading chapel before game day or standing on the sidelines cheering the team on, Mitchell sees his mission as guiding players in faith and purpose, helping them find hope beyond wins and losses.
Despite the demands of travel and ministry, Mitchell’s family remains his foundation and greatest support.
I’m called to this. When your giftings and your calling goes together at the same time that’s being used for the betterment of these players and this team, all to the glory of God, that’s a sweet spot that I love to be in.

An unexpected bonus to Mitchell’s role is that Guy Fieri’s son is on the SDSU team, and Mitchell recently got to meet the celebrity chef. The two are pictured together on the SDSU Field in the photo on the left.
Congratulations, Morgan! You are an exceptional example of Roberts' mission to help transform society!
