Lois McConnell (Sawyer) ‘67 (English)
Lois A. McConnell, 80, of Lakewood, formerly of School Avenue, died Saturday December 6, 2025, in her home.
A native of Port Allegany, PA, she was born August 1, 1945, a daughter of the late George and Elsie Trott Sawyer.
Following graduation from Bradford High School, Lois went on to earn a degree in English from Roberts Wesleyan University.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Falconer Central School as an English teacher for 31 years. She loved teaching and watching students learn.
She and her husband were longtime members of Fluvanna Community Church where she cultivated her strong faith.
Spending the winter months in Claremont, FL, she enjoyed going on cruises, playing cards and anytime she had with her family and friends She loved being around people She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband Gerald McConnell, whom she married June 18, 1966; two children Sherri (Dennis) Goodwill of Jamestown and Todd (Beth-Ann) McConnell of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren Christopher Goodwill, Jennifer (Justin) Johnson, Curtis Goodwill, Tray and Tyler McConnell; great grandchildren Alexa and Stella Goodwill, Aubrey, Alivia and Arielle Johnson; two brothers Tom (Kathy) Sawyer of Ft. Mills, SC and Edward Sawyer of Davenport, FL and a sister Kathy (Tom) Dublinski of Lockport, NY.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Judith Sawyer and two great grandsons Bryce and Jack Goodwill.

Karen L. Parkhurst ‘89 (Management and Human Resources)
Canandaigua – Karen L. Parkhurst, age 82, passed away after a brief illness, on Thursday, December 4, 2025. She is survived by her sister, Pamela Parkhurst; three children, Doris (James) Bugbee, Donna Groff – McNulty (Scott McNulty) and Robert S. (Rachel) Groff; six grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy), BreAnna (Kevin), Robert M. (Katelynn), Karl (Saso), Joseph (Emily) and Jenna Karen; great-grandson, Colton; longtime companion, Russ Perrin; and former husband, Bob (Linda) Groff and their children, Stephanie and Michael.
Karen was born and raised in Chicago and was the daughter of Frank and Virginia (Moorehead) Parkhurst. She earned an MBA from Roberts Wesleyan College. Karen retired in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer of New Energy Works after many years there. She was a member and former President of the Victor – Farmington Rotary Club and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow. Karen volunteered through Rotary for helping Third World Countries and also volunteered for the Rochester City School District. She was a champion for the underprivileged. Karen earned many awards and recognition for her volunteer work. She was also active in Ontario County government. Karen enjoyed dancing, traveling, socializing with friends and spending time with her family.
